Catacombs - Pictures at an Exhibition

*Musical imagery - This concert presents musical conceptions of a raucous carnival scene at night, children’s stories, and a stroll through an exhibition of paintings by Viktor Hartmann.

*Children’s stories - Ravel’s Mother Goose features children’s stories such as Tom Thumb, Sleeping Beauty, and Beauty and the Beast.

*Orchestral wizard - Ravel was famed for his skill in exploiting the colors of the orchestra.  The entire VSO is the star of this concert!
